Ghana sees first outbreak of Marburg Virus disease.

This Marburg virus is supposed to as deadly and fatal as Ebola virus.

Though Marburg is a rare but it is a severe viral hemorrhagic fever.

This virus is transmitted from fruit bats to humans.

Marburg virus is spread from person to person through direct contact, bodily fluid of the infected individuals, materials and surfaces.

Symptoms of this Marburg virus starts with high fever, malaise and severe headache.

People should avoid exposure to caves or mines, where fruit bat colonies are prominent.

Currently no treatment or vaccines available for this virus.

Some supportive care like oral fluids rehydration and treatment of certain symptoms improve chance of survival.
